We R... Trauma-Informed Programs and Schools

We believe that trauma fundamentally alters an individual’s perceptions of themselves, others, and their surroundings, profoundly affecting their sense of safety, well-being, and stability.

Trauma-informed care is about understanding the long-term effects that trauma can have on an individual and responding with care that promotes healing and recovery. All Pressley Ridge programs and schools are trauma informed. Our treatment starts by asking, “What happened to you?” rather than “What’s wrong with you?”.

The Pressley Ridge Day School Pittsburgh is a trauma-informed therapeutic program that serves youth from the Pittsburgh region. These students face challenges that cannot adequately be addressed in the traditional classroom and need additional resources, such as social skills instruction and behavioral interventions, and a facility that meets their unique needs.

We R… The Campaign for Pressley Ridge will raise funds to support the reimagination of the Day School Pittsburgh. The renovated school will include specialized resources, technology and infrastructure upgrades, along with new spaces that offer our students a comfortable place to learn and receive the mental and behavioral supports they need. In addition, the Career Development Center, which provides life skills training for high school students and is currently located off campus, will be incorporated into the facility. We are excited to provide our students a school building that promotes well-being and healing while meeting their unique needs and making them feel physically and emotionally safe.
